Book Review: Left Behind (Finding My Forever #3) by Michele Notaro

Levi Maher is a successful photographer in Baltimore and has a wonderful motley crew of family members and friends whom he loves very much. The only downside is is love life, or lack thereof. After deciding to go to photography conference to his mind off of all of the personal drama in his life, things seems to go from bad to worse when he finds himself face to face with his nemesis and all-around jerk, Andrew Harrington. Andrew has had some kind of chip on his shoulder when it comes to him, but Levi can't allow his toxicity to get him down. How will the two of them cope when they are forced into several situations together?

I haven't read the previous books in the series, so I had to start from scratch with all of the characters. Most of them were very likeable and seemed like a great bunch of people. Andrew (aka Andy) took a very long time to warm up to, but in the end I grew to like him. At first he seemed very one-dimensional, but as the story progressed, he revealed layer after layer. Levi was very sweet, persistent and had an almost saint-like patience.

In terms of writing, everything looked really good. I did feel as though there were too many conversations and scenes with side characters, which ended up weighing down the book too much in my opinion. Even though I really liked the side characters, I wanted more of the story to be focused on Levi and Andy.

All in all, this is an enjoyable book. It has its fair share of angsty, frustrating, jaw-dropping and fluffy moments, making it a great read. I look forward to reading the previous works as well as the upcoming sequel.

I ❤️ Yaoi: Ikumen After by Kodaka Kazuma

Hello yaoi lovers! This week's feature is Ikumen After by Kodaka Kazuma!

A really cute, sweet story about two single dads Asakura and Kentarou, whose young sons happen to go to the same daycare.

This story was so unbelievably adorable! I loved reading about how the two single dads, Asakura and Kentarou, traversed through life raising their little boys and somehow managed to form a friendship that turns into more. Your heart will melt when you read about Hiromi and Motoki and how much they adore one another! Also look out for Hiromi and Motoki's childcare worker, who keeps an eye on them and helps push their dads in the right direction. :)

Book Review: Thirty Things by Cate Ashwood

All their lives, Finn and Nate have been inseparable, sharing everything, and when a childhood accident left Finn broken, Nate stood by his side as all his other friends left. After all their years together, there’s one secret Finn still hasn’t revealed: he has been in love with Nate since they were eight years old. Hiding his feelings for twenty-one years—terrified of what might happen if Nate ever found out—has been difficult, but losing his best friend would be worse than living with a bad case of unrequited love. Unfortunately for Finn, Nate doesn't make it easy.

Nate believes there are some things that just have to be done before your thirtieth birthday. As a gift to Finn, he plans an adventure to check off a list of thirty things to experience before hitting that milestone. Starting in Crawfordsville, Indiana, they tour the country, trying new things and meeting interesting new people. Nate’s having the time of his life, but he can tell Finn is holding something back. As the days count down, navigating the back roads suddenly seems easier than figuring out where their relationship is heading.

One thing’s for certain. There will be no turning back.

This is a really sweet, uncomplicated friend-to-lovers story! There really isn't a lot to critique. The writing is good and the characters are very likeable. I have to commend Cate Ashwood for coming up with the various activities for Finn and Nate. All of them sounded quite fun and I wouldn't mind trying some of them out! If you're in the mood for a relatively angst-free love story between two adorable men, this is the story for you!

Protection by RamenKitsune

Protection by RamenKitsune

Since they were children, Haru has protected Makoto from just about everything he fears; and Makoto has always admired Haru for his seemingly unwavering courage. What happens when it's Makoto's turn to protect his best friend?

This short drabble-esque story is absolutely adorable! My heart melted by the end and I know yours will too! This is very short read, but well worth a couple minutes of your time!

Book Review: Imago by N.R. Walker

Nerdy, introverted genius lepidopterist, Lawson Gale, is an expert on butterflies. He finds himself in a small town in Tasmania on a quest from an old professor to find an elusive species that may or may not even exist.

Local Parks and Wildlife officer, Jack Brighton, is an ordinary guy who loves his life in the sleepy town of Scottsdale. Along with his Border collie dog, Rosemary, his job, and good friends, he has enough to keep from being lonely. But then he meets Lawson, and he knows he’s met someone special. There’s more to catching butterflies, Jack realizes. Sometimes the most elusive creatures wear bow ties, and sometimes they can’t be caught at all.

Lawson soon learns there are butterflies he can’t learn about it in books. They exist only in a touch, in a kiss, in a smile. He just has to let go first, so these butterflies can fly.

Imago is the story of finding love, bow ties, and butterflies.

I really enjoyed this story! N.R. Walker has a wonderful knack for creating characters that are not only likeable, but also complex and interesting. Lawson, in all of his nerdy genius, still exhibited a wealth of emotions, both good and bad, that readers typically don't expect from introverted and shy characters. I also loved how Jack was so enamored by everything about Lawson, but it wasn't purely physical. He was interested in his mind as well. These are the type of multi-dimensional characters that I appreciate and enjoy most in fiction.

All in all, this is a very fun, uncomplicated romance, and I can't wait to read the sequel!

Do You Mean It? by KillianJones32

Do You Mean It? by KillianJones32

Oliver has drawn a line in the sand. He can no longer pretend that he doesn't love his best friend-with-benefits and feels it's best to just cut ties since Connor can never give him want he needs. Connor, on the other hand, is gobsmacked, but also does a little soul searching and finds out that his best friends may just be the most perfect person for him.

This is such a sweet, yet emotional, one shot! Your heart will go out to both Oliver and Connor as they try to come to grips with their feelings and what that means for their friendship. Highly recommended!

The Lonely Me by rivlee

                                                               The Lonely Me by rivlee

Agron feels lost and alone. His jealousy has turned away the most important person in his life, but he feels it's probably for the best. He couldn't stand the thought of Nasir wasting his precious time on someone as possessive and combative as him. However, Nasir will not to let him fall in the abyss of self loathing and doubt.

This is a lovely look into the lives of Nasir and Agron as they continue their path of war and freedom. I loved the way that Nasir asserted himself and fought for what was important to him. Give it a shot!

Book Review: Misfits by Garrett Leigh

I originally read and reviewed this book in March of 2015.

Tom and Cass have a strong, committed relationship. They are not only romantic partners, but also business partners as they own and run a number of restaurants in the London area. Their work keeps both of them extremely busy and apart way too often. Even though they love each other fiercely, they also have an unconventional relationship.

When a young man storms into their lives and sparks new feelings within Tom and Cass, the three men must decide how they want to move forward. In the process, they must each deal with their personal demons without potentially dragging the others down into the abyss.

I must admit that threesome stories are not my thing, but I've heard great things about Garrett Leigh's work and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. This is a wonderful story that immediately pulled me into the lives of Tom, Cass and Jake.

I truly liked all of the MCs and my heart broke for each of them during their trials and tribulations. Tom is a complete sweetheart and nurturer who strives to take care of those he loves; Cass is exuberant, edgy and proud; and Jake is often the voice of reason who manages to be the bridge that connects Tom and Cass when they can't seem to come to an agreement, whether personal or business-related.

Deeper Than Bass by tayeah

Deeper Than Bass by tayeah

Makoto is been in a band with his friends, but always asked Haru to refrain from watching them perform. One day Haru decides to see what the big deal is and is shocked (and turned on) by what he sees.

Wow! This story is awesome! tayeah effectively wrote the tension, electricity and heat Makoto projects while performing and the utter disbelief and extreme interest that Haru displays. In other words, this fic is hot, hot, HOT! Definitely give it a try!

Book Review: Recipe for Romance by Parker Elliot

When Cory and his sister find themselves in search for a new head chef to take over the kitchen of their restaurant, Flavor, due to Elise's upcoming maternity leave, Cory is nervous. He and his sister have such a good thing going, and the thought of being without her, even temporarily, puts him on edge, especially after an incident with his ex that almost ruined his reputation and put Flavor out of business.

Wyatt just recently returned to Chicago after spending years in London honing his skills as an up-and-coming chef. A bad break up didn't help matters either; however, he can't help but feel elated, and a little scared, when an opportunity at Flavor falls into his lap. You see, he and Cory have a past. One that didn't end in rainbows and declarations of love, but abandonment and sadness; so how will they react once they're face-to-face once again?

I liked this story! The characters are very likeable and interesting, and I found myself invested in their lives. The relationship between Cory and Wyatt was sweet when things were good, but when things were bad, I felt that the angst was exaggerated and a little frustrating. The "big misunderstanding" was blown out of proportion from Cory's standpoint, especially since he didn't have all of the information. Wyatt's fault in the situation, in my opinion, was not nearly as substantial as the characters made it out to be. There was also one storyline left open that I'd wished had been resolved. It would have brought closure to everything.

All in all, this is an enjoyable book I recommend to all m/m romance fans!

Kiss Me Hard Before You Go by viggiq

Connor has decided to move to California and attend Stanford after he reveals all of his murderous secrets to Oliver. Even though he naively hoped their relationship wouldn't completely fall apart with this revelation, it does. When Connor stops by Oliver's (and formerly his) apartment to pick up the last of his things, the sexual tension is palpable and undeniable.

Wow! This story is FIRE!!!! 🔥🔥🔥 The tension (both emotional and sexual) between Connor and Oliver is so thick, you could probably slice it with a knife. I don't want to give away too much of the story, but it's definitely worth you time! You won't be disappointed.
